Twelve Years
Growing Seattle Gardens
We built SoilSage around one conviction: that genuinely productive gardens start with genuinely healthy soil, and that most gardening services don't go deep enough into either.
Started With a
Broken Garden Bed.
SoilSage was founded in 2013 by Nadia Park, a certified soil scientist who spent six years as a research associate at Washington State University's horticultural extension before deciding she'd rather fix real gardens than study laboratory samples.
The company started with a single raised bed installation program in the Wallingford neighborhood. By 2015, referrals had grown the client list to 60 households. By 2019, SoilSage was managing over 300 active gardens. We have never run a paid advertising campaign — every client has come through referral or organic search.
We cap new project intake each season so our existing clients receive the attention level our quality standards require. This is commercially uncomfortable and practically essential.
Every SoilSage grower is a W-2 employee trained in-house. We have never used subcontracted labor for client work. Your garden is tended by someone who knows its history.
Every visit produces a written report: what was observed, what was done, what's recommended. Not a verbal summary — a document you can reference when your SoilSage grower changes.
We decline work when our schedule is full. A grower who manages 30 gardens cannot give adequate attention to any of them. We've maintained this limit since our founding.
