Why SoilSage

Built on Science.
Grown with Care.

Most gardening services focus on aesthetics. We focus on biology. Every SoilSage program begins with a soil assessment, because productive gardens start underground — not at the garden center.

We work with a small number of clients at a time, capping new project starts each season so our team has the attention to do the work properly. Our growers carry professional certification and genuine enthusiasm for the craft.

🔬
Science First

Every recommendation we make is backed by horticultural research or years of observed field outcomes. We don't repeat gardening myths — we test and verify.

🌍
Soil Health Central

A productive garden is impossible without living, healthy soil. We spend more time and attention on what's underground than most gardening services spend on the whole project.

📋
Documented Everything

Every visit produces a written record — what was observed, what was done, what's recommended next. You always have a clear picture of your garden's trajectory.

Client Stories

What Colorado Growers
Say About Soil Sage

Results vary. Testimonials reflect individual experiences and are not guarantees of identical outcomes.

★★★★★

"Before SoilSage, our raised beds produced about half of what I expected. They did a soil test on our first visit and found our pH was nearly a point off and we were severely deficient in magnesium. After their soil restoration program, our tomato and pepper yields more than doubled in the following season."

Individual results vary. Yield improvements depend on soil conditions, plant selection, seasonal weather, and maintenance.
★★★★★

"We had a 400 sq ft side yard that was completely unproductive clay. SoilSage built three raised beds, installed a drip system, and had us harvesting lettuce and radishes within six weeks of their first visit. By August we had more tomatoes than we could process — ended up donating two boxes to our food bank."

★★★★★

"I've been gardening for 20 years and still learned things in my first coaching session. The companion planting map they made for my beds reduced the aphid pressure on my brassicas significantly — I went from 3–4 spray interventions per season to one. The written visit reports are also genuinely useful."

Yes. We serve the full greater Seattle area including Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Shoreline, Renton, Burien, and Mercer Island. Areas further than 25 miles from our Eastlake studio may incur a travel supplement, which we confirm before scheduling. We do not currently serve areas south of Tacoma or north of Everett.
Clients on our RootWork plan receive our harvest guarantee: if your garden does not produce a harvest of at least three edible crops in the first full growing season under our management, we credit one month of service. The guarantee applies to gardens with adequate sun (minimum 6 hours daily), sound infrastructure, and maintenance performed according to our care specifications. See our Terms of Service for complete guarantee terms and exclusions.
A standard residential raised bed build — two to four 4x8 foot beds with soil, hardware cloth, and irrigation — is typically completed in one full day. Larger builds, site leveling requirements, or access-constrained yards may require two days. We provide a specific timeline in the written proposal.
Our free initial site assessment includes a visual soil texture evaluation, compaction test, pH spot test, and earthworm count. We also assess drainage, sun exposure, and water access. For clients enrolling in soil restoration programs, we add a laboratory soil panel test (macronutrients, micronutrients, organic matter percentage, and cation exchange capacity) at our cost.
Absolutely. Most of our clients have existing garden infrastructure we work within and improve. We commonly take over neglected established beds, improve in-ground plots, and retrofit existing raised beds with better soil and irrigation. The initial assessment tells us what's worth preserving and what should be rebuilt.
